Halal Food in London
Finding halal food in London used to stress me out before visiting. Where’s the good stuff? What’s actually worth trying? Will I end up eating the same kebab every night?
I’ve put together this halal food in London guide which includes, halal restaurants, the best halal areas in London and halal supermarkets.

Halal-friendly and Halal Restaurants in London:
1. Maroush Bakehouse: Lebanese, open since 1981, halal meat, ate here with family, nice authentic flavors, there’s a bread production where you can see the bread being made which was pretty entertaining, checked and appears they serve alcohol
Address: 131 Earls Ct Rd, London SW5 9RQ (multiple locations- but only this one has the bread-making).
2. Guanabana Restaurant: Halal Caribbean and Latin American halal, they have great Caribbean Sunday roast, also serve jerk chicken, all meat is halal, but serves alcohol

3. Roti King: Malaysian/ Singaporean, halal meat but serves alcohol
Address: 40 Doric Way, Euston Rd., London NW1 1LH (multiple locations)
4. The Great Chase: European, 100% Halal, no alcohol, can pray at restaurant, kid friendly, reservations required

5. Tayyabs: Punjabi, open since 1972 halal options, all meat is halal

Halal Food Areas in London
Here are the areas which are concentrated with halal food in London.
- Brick Lane (Whitechapel/Aldgate East) This is curry central. Tons of Bangladeshi and Indian spots line the street. You’ll find good value meals.
- Edgware Road (Near Marble Arch) You’ll find Middle Eastern food here. Lebanese, Syrian, and Persian places everywhere. Great for grilled meats and sharing platters.
- Whitechapel Road Home to a large Muslim community with a variety of halal restaurants You’ll see Middle Eastern, South Asian, and a bit of North African.
- Leather Lane (Holborn) One of London’s biggest food markets. 21 min walk from the British museum. You can find Lebanese, Brazillian, Asian, and Ethiopian cuisines. Many of the stalls are halal. Great meal deals. Perfect for lunch breaks.

1. Turkish Food Centre (TFC)
Address: 303 Camberwell New Rd, London SE5 0TF (multiple addresses)
- Turkish includes Mediterranean European food
- You can find: halal meat, fresh bread, baklava, olives, cheese, spices, fruits, vegetables
2. Green Valley
Address: Marble Arch, 36-37 Upper Berkeley St, London W1H 5QF
- Lebanese includes Middle Eastern food
- Halal meat, fresh sweets (kunafeh, baklava), olives, bread, fruits, vegetables
3. Starmeat
Address: 117 Lupus St, Pimlico, London SW1V 3EN, United Kingdom
- Middle Eastern food
- Halal meat, supermarket
Major Supermarket Chains with Halal Sections
If you can’t travel near a halal independent store, most large supermarkets will have halal meats in the refrigerated sections.
When I lived in the UK, Sainsbury’s in my small town would have halal meat, steak and chicken that I would buy to cook.
